Atomic Acquisitions has been supporting the global nuclear industry since 2007, and our team and associates offer between them around two hundred years of cumulative strategic experience in the sector. To give you a flavour of what we can bring to your programme, we have listed some past projects below, and some of the reports we have delivered or contributed to.
Working with a private equity entity, Atomic Acquisitions advised Hatch Inc, a consortium of Canadian nuclear engineering companies, with their balance of plant proposal to the Horizon nuclear development at Wylfa Anglesey for the Hitachi ABWR reactor. Our work extended to structuring the funding proposal that underpinned Hatch's submission to Horizon. However before completion, the Horizon project folded.
U-Battery is an advanced high temperature micro-reactor design using TRISO fuel, pioneered by URENCO in conjunction with the Universities of Manchester and Delft. Atomic Acquisitions facilitated the successful signing of the de-designation order by the Secretary of State that allowed URENCO to consolidate its land holdings at Capenhurst and begin the construction of the Tails Management Facility. Following this, and working with the URENCO senior leadership team, AA outlined the key stages required to deliver the U-Battery programme. Taking the initial research developed at Delft, the Atomic Acquisitions team formulated a roadmap to commercialise the programme: this including identifying and negotiating with key consortium partners, assessing market size, liaising with key stakeholders and lobbying parliamentarians with interest in developing a UK nuclear programme.
This led Atomic Acquisitions to be invited to write the BEIS report for micro SMR deployment - see below
As the Japanese electricity market liberalised, TEPCO engaged Atomic Acquisitions to develop a number of strategic thought leadership papers looking at what lessons they could take for the liberalisation of the UK electricity market and, in particular, how their nuclear portfolio could be restructured and optimised to increase efficiency in a liberalised electricity market. The studies focused on the role of the holding company and their relationship with subsidiaries, and what actions needed to be taken as markets evolved.
Working with the CEO and board, Atomic Acquisitions advised ONET Technologies France on their market entry into the UK. This included market assessment, identifying potential partners and assisting with bid opportunities. The work culminated in developing a roadmap that enabled ONET to secure several contracts in the UK.
